Jaipur, Dec 21: Two panthers have been found dead, one each in Jaipur and Sawaimadhopur districts, official sources said today.
A two-year-old female panther was found dead in a forest near Phalodi village in Sawaimadhopur, they said.
Authorities suspect that it was killed by the residents of the village in their bid to get rid of wild animals that often attack their cattle and spoil the crop.
The State Forest Department has registered a case of poaching and sought the help of the district police to bring the guilty to book.
The carcass of another panther was spotted at Amber forest road in Jaipur district, the sources said.
A gun shot was spotted on its body by villagers, they said, adding the carcass had been sent for visceral examination. (Agencies)
